the book The Rise of Nine by Pittacus Lore is about john who is one of ten kids that have escaped their planet when it was being destroyed.  the people who destroyed his planet, the Mogadorians are now hunting him and the other nine.  they can only be killed in order and number one through three have already been killed.  john is number four.  throughout this book john shows that he can be extremely cautious.

          john is very cautious throughout the book.  one example is that when he was with number nine.  nine brought him to his safe house which was in chicago and since the Mogs like it in big cities because it is easier to hide john was very hesitant on going to chicago.  he refused to go to chicago but in the end he knew he had to stay with nine.  when he got there he did not talk to anyone and was constantly on watch.  when nine met some girls who invited them over john didn't go and he tried desperately to convince nine not to go incase it was a trap.

          in conclusion john is a very cautious person.  he is always on the lookout and sleeps with one eye open.  john is also only 16 and with no living adult telling him what to do he is very responsible.  he never lets his guard down because he knows that if he does he will be killed.
